Our farm shop reopens on Tuesday 5th January
Monday: Closed
Tuesday - Saturday: 9.30am - 5.30pm
Sundays & Bank Holidays: 10.00am - 4.00pm
PYO 2010, not as far away as you think!...
PYO is now shut for this year.
We will be opening the PYO again in June 2010 for strawberries and raspberries.
When you visit our shop you will notice we have now taken the polytunnels down for this year, most of next years strawberries have been replanted and are looking good having enjoyed some good weather through early autumn.
Wild Fig Vineyard update...
(a couple more years!)
Our newly planted vines have grown well over the summer and have put on some good growth for their first season. This winter we will be putting up all the wire supports that the vines will then be trained on from next year.
We are also going to be planting some more vines in a couple of our polytunnels so you will be able to monitor their progress from the farm cafe! Just think, by 2013 you may be able to enjoy a glass of our very own wine whilst relaxing in the cafe.... watch this space, we will be updating our website as our little vineyard develops!
We have planted several varieties so we should be able to produce white, rose and sparkling wines. Our 'indoor' vines will include varieties that can be a bit sensitive to British weather conditions & will hopefully add some lovely character to our wines.
Whats Growing?
Not a lot at this time of year! We are just finishing the last of the everbearer strawberry crop, these are available in the shop in limited quantities.
Next year we are hoping our new peach and apricot trees will start cropping and we are also hoping to have a continous supply of our own vegetables for the farm shop.
Chickens
No news is good news! The chickens have been safe and sound in their new enclosure. Now that the tunnels have come down we will be letting them roam free during the days so that they have new areas to investigate.
Cats Corner
Bilbo and Chelsea (pictured left) have now completely settled in and have firmly got to grips with controlling us lowly humans. We're not yet convinced they do a lot of work on the farm, they are more often seen looking longingly through the farm shop windows and patrolling the farm looking for tickle opportunities. Bilbo and Chelsea both came from Cats Protection centre in Bridgend.
